I wore a size 13 until I was 28 and almost overnight went up to a 14. I had custom cowboy boots and several pair of nice danner work boots and had to can them all.

Like FLAK, I was a 12 1/5 to 13. Now in mid 50's I'm a 14 EEEE. And yes, the bunion is the biggest reason for the x-wide.

Heel lifts on the edge of a stair is a great exercise to overcome this and strengthen your arches.

Yep definitely. Some weight gain and change in instep will do it.

Yeah, just like getting shorter, I suppose you arches can droop, leaving your feet larger. Then there's Euro sizing which may be different from region to region. What hasn't changed since we were young.
