Boise Town Buck...???

He removed the Pic. It could be fishy or it could be he found out the buck has fans and he figured guys like these would come after him. It has some real witch hunt vibes.
Starting internet gossip and slandering people is childish high school crap. If you suspect fowl play with no reason grow up. If you have reason for your suspensions then please report it.
If he has nothing to worry about then why would he be worried about the criticism? Especially on an anonymous forum post?

if you think something doesn't smell "off" about this story then you might need to get your sniffer recalibrated.

Since most of the people that I know that do shady stuff aren't smart enough to keep it quiet I assume anything that appears shady is. However as a believer in humanity I give people the benefit of the doubt. Bucks definitely expand their range in the rutty time of year. If this hunter was tickled to find that deer legitly, then found out it was a city buck I feel very bad for the crap he is going to get, and not deserve. If he did something illegal and tried to brag, I do not feel a bit sorry.

When I see how this played out, here is my take.

Said buck was entered in a photo contest. Buck is unique and awesome. Buck was recognized as a towny buck.

Hunter posts another photo of the rack. Towny photos posted.

Hunter not liking direction things are going and photos removed.

Reminds me of a very big bull shot last year.

Curious mindset for many goes hmmm. Being curious is not jealousy or accusatory. Hunter can easily squash the curious folks. More pics and field photo, short synopsis. End of story and internet Buzz.

He entered the contest. No one made him do it.

In the end more info likely comes out, like the big bull.

For all you guys that want to kill a town buck. I’ll start taking silent bids for someone to sit in my shed or on my roof next fall. I’m out of city limits so it’s all legal, I’ll make sure that he will take an apple from your hand for extra $$$.

I’d imagine he will easily break 200” next summer if he doesn’t get hit by a car. I have zero interest in shooting him or his buddies out of my yard.

I have no idea. Perhaps he doesn't want criticism it's unlikely to make him happier.

Thinking something smells fishy is one thing. Making unfounded accusations publicly is another. I think you seem like a bot trying to sow discourse but I would need more evidence before saying that publicly ;)
Hopefully you have already reported him for poaching and we will find out you could be right.

I don't have a problem with someone legally taking a buck - but claiming the valor of an OTC public land monster buck in pics like that by shooting a town buck...that's like paying a stripper to pretend to be his girlfriend, just to make his bros jealous.
But how do people know this “town buck”didn’t travel to some public range? I’ve had trail camera pictures of the same deer miles apart during the same night

One can totally meet a stripper at church, too.

(Seriously, yes, there's always the possibility this guy genuinely didn't know, was out somewhere on "public land", and thought he had a Grey Ghost Monster before him, and just didn't know he'd slain some Karen's yard buck. But if he's posting it on IG, with all the right code words...sure bro, she's your girlfriend, not Candy down at The BadaBing.)

If you think something notorious took place, it's your responsibility to contact the fish and game.

Flinging shit just to see if it sticks is an unacceptable approach on Rokslide.

Posting unsubstantiated rumors that damage someone else's character has to have consequences.

I think something like this could legally and innocently happen quite easily.

A lot of western towns and cities have public ground immediately adjacent to subdivisions. Quite a few people hunt it right after work because it is close.

Most people who see a nice buck wouldn’t think twice about harvesting it.

Then the poor guy posts it, and to his dismay finds out it was a beloved town buck.

If the comments start to get accusatory and negative on hunting forum, imagine how bad they probably are on other forms of social media.

Of course you would take the pictures down.

Call me naive, but I feel bad for the hunter. I have a hard time believing that if it was nefarious, and he was in the know, that he would have posted it on the rokslide photo contest.

You're naive.

I don't know the whole story about this buck but ask yourself this: why do so many convicted poachers post their kills all over social media and even television until they get caught and then suddenly pull down the photos and videos?

My two cents.. A lot of us in town knew about this buck and knew where he lived. At least the last two years that I knew about him. I know I spent my fair share of time scheming and looking at the regs to see how we might have been able to get him killed. But the reality of it was that it wasn’t possible. The only way he was getting killed where he lived was by a car. But now that he’s been shot, that means he walked a pretty long ways and past a lot of does in October for him to end up anywhere he could have legally been taken with a rifle.

I’m not saying it couldn’t happen but I sure am suspicious. If it was done legally, I’d love to buy the guy a beer and hear how it went down. I’m jealous somebody was able to make it happen. Either way, I’m sad we won’t get to see him next summer. A badass buck.

Is it possible the guy had the late archery controlled hunt and took him in late November/early December? He just posted the pics last week. I have no clue where this buck lived so I don’t have a clue how far he would’ve had to wander.
