How are the Underwood 220gr hardcast running in a stock G20 for bear defense?

I’ve heard mixed stuff—some say flawless, others mention occasional FTFs with the 220s specifically and rare reports of tumbling/keyholing.

Wondering if that’s mostly internet noise or if there’s a real pattern.

What other rounds should I test in my g20 as my edc while bow hunting in grizz country?

I had no issues with those in the g20

I like the nose profile of the doubletap WFNGC, more weight up front = better straight line penetration. The gas check should also help with leading. The 200gr fed fine for me.

The other school of thought is sticking with a heavy-for-caliber barrier defeating HP. The stories of HPs blowing up and not penetrating on big animals are from light and poorly constructed bullets. The ~16" of penetration required by the law enforcement agencies gets you into what you need to hit and you are using a round with extensive engineering and more documented verification than YouTube milk jug tests.

Federal 200gr HST would be a good choice in that category
