Hello, I've been shooting blazer vanes now for a few years and like them. I've just started wrapping and fletching my own arrows. My question is would I notice a difference if I switched to Max Hunter vanes from AAE. I like the look of them and would like to fletch some up, but not if it will make me change my setup at all.

Thanks trkyslr. Do you think I would have to reconfigure my sight tape on my slider? Or not that much of a difference?

personally I prefer the max hunters but yes I think he would have to change your sight tape however your broadhead flight will improve.

I've also been curious about the max hunters, but hesitant to change because I think they're a little taller than blazers. Did anybody find this to be true? I don't have a lot of clearance for my cable rod and I'd hate to go chasing my tail and retuning everything because I decided to try out some new fletching unless they were really worth it.

I've wondered the same thing motts. I think they would be great vanes but I don't think I wanna tinker around with my stuff. I'm shooting better than I ever have. But then again maybe I'm missing out..

I made the switch from Blazers to Max hunters two years ago. They grouped together to about 50yds with my set up. That is out of two diff bows that I shoot the same arrows out of. At 80yds I was looking at a 5"-6" difference, with the Max Hunters being the flatter shooting. The diff in weight is very small so I am assuming it has something to do with the wind drag of the two. I will say I had no problem steering the same BHs.
I am shooting them as a three fletch with a 3deg helical.
Not sure you can go wrong with either vane.

The max hunters are only about .1" taller than the blazers so clearance is not much of an issue. However, due to the shape of the vane the surface area increase by about 10%. They are slightly longer as well, again about .1" longer than the blazer. A couple things should be mentioned here, and will help explain the better groups people are experiencing. The ridges on the Max hunters grip the air better and cause them to spin, likewise, the stiffer material that are used on the max hunter make them more durable and help them spin and stabilize better as well. When testing with broadheads last summer I used 12 maxima blue streaks, 6 fletch with Max Hunters and 6 six fletched with blazers. Within 40 yards they were nearly identical in group size and point of impact. at 50-60 yards Point of impact was nearly the same, but groups began to open up. 70-100 yards blazers began dropping much more rapidly and groups really opened up. Max hunters are a far superior vane in my opinion. As a result of my testing and success with these vanes I have been changing our shop over from blazers to Max Hunters. All the fletching we do in the shop will have max hunters on them.

I think this would solve my broadhead concerns. I'll have to order some. Could I fletch them with my Arizona EZ fletch? I'm assuming yes?

Thanks, Japple - I guess I'll grab a pack and try them out.
