Blaser R8 Field Evaluation

I have a blaser r8 in 6.5-284 and it may be the most accurate rifle I have ever owned. I say maybe because I only did load development once and resighted it for a different can another time. Its only been shot on paper twice. It shot 3/8" 3 shot groups at 200 yards! with the load I worked up and I called that good enough! It shot 1/2" at 200 yards removing the scope and putting it back on during one of the groups I checked to confirm that I had a load I wanted. Then shot sub 7/16" at 200 yards when I sighted it in for a different can 18 months ago. I don't really wanna put extra rounds through it, because I don't want anything to change about the gun. I don't shoot high powered bolt guns that much anymore because I am basically a limited entry special tag hunter only these days. If the tag isn't likely to produce a buck or elk bigger than what I have shot already. I aint going to bother.

as for the drop tests. I feel this is the scope shifting in the rings. I see this happen exactly like form saw with other guns. open the back door of the pickup and the gun comes flying out on the ground. Or lean it up against my desk and the gun falls over on to a hardwood floor. Since form loves to put loctite and fingernail polish on things. it would be interesting if something was applied to the scope rings so there was locker between the scope tube and rings.

if i had to replace everything again. I would get a R8 have a 6.5 prc barrel for deer and bigger boomer for elk. 30 magnum something. Thats it I would be done for big game. I would only have the custom bolt guns for varmint hunting. the blaser r8 is insanely priced for everything. $400 for a scope mount, $1500 for a barrel. Its really too bad they can't figure out a way to get more people into these guns. I bought mine for $2200 with a scope mount 6 or 7 years ago. No way would I pay full price these days! if they could get the price down for the barrel extensions, getting different barrels would be much closer to the price of a rebarrel. thats why I would like to see more people shooting these.

Can you share why?
The shape of the grip area and the stock itself is much improved. The new grip is the same effective drip shape and slightly shorter trigger distance as a T3x with vertical grip, the palm swell and thinner rib at the top fill the hand better and make a correct trigger press easier.

Look at the pictures I uploaded and see the grip angle difference and foreend shape difference.

The adjustable comb is a welcome feature as well. We will see how durable it is very shortly.

For note, these are the same 22mm safari barrel channel diameter.

Back in September I ordered a 300 Wby barrel with sights for my R8 from Eurooptics. Barrel finally arrived last week only it did not have sights. Filled out the contact form on Euro's web page, no response. Filled it out again on Monday, same thing, no response.
I'll live with the barrel as it arrived but am shocked at being ghosted by their customer support. Buyer beware.

At this point not sure I want a new one or not. Just disappointed I was not contacted after two attempts.

Jake will take care of you.

I returned an item a month or so ago, and on the RA he specifically noted "WKR" as part of the note for whichever colleague received the package. He's getting Roksliders taken care of quickly and with care - I'm certain he's unhappy with your experience, and will do what's necessary internally to help them get that person squared away. You're in good hands.
