Blaser R8 Field Evaluation

Does anyone have a favorite 3rd party/after market stock for these?

I've turned up a few, but nothing that impresses me. There are well made options, but they don't seem well designed... the ergonomics are the issue. It's hard for me to accept the rest of the package, good as it may be, without a shooter/rifle interface that has me stoked as well.

Yep the available options are pretty clunky. THE stock to get was a carbon one modeled off the R93 but you will have to search for a used one as the maker is retired.

Blaser has a new 2.0 Professional stock out. I hope to get my hands on one during the upcoming SCI Convention.

I went by their booth at DSC. The professional 2.0 doesn’t feel extraordinarily different. The grip angle and the trigger reach do feel shorter/better. The butt pad is on a section that is adjustable and they added rubber bumpers for increased recoil adsorption. The cheek piece is adjustable and felt solid with no external screws to catch stuff.

I don’t know and didn’t ask how much weight was affected. Comb is still below bore but appears to be flat

The receiver is also bonded to the stock iirc means aftermarkets out.

As Blasers are quite popular in Europe there are few aftermarket carbon stocks. FBT makes them but I've never really been a fan of their stocks...thumhole ones are short even for me and they feel delicate and have a weird recoil impulse.

Gustaff makes great carbon for R8 and Carbonomix is also good, that's what I use. Raven Euro also makes nice ones.

Carbonomix wouldn’t sell/ship to the US when I asked them.
