Blacktail snort-wheeze

I got a nice 3x3 in my backyard right now while I’m cooking dinner.

He’s pissed at a big 3x2 and let a couple snort-wheezes out.

Very cool. I saw a video a co-worker took in his back yard (Beaverton) of two nice 3pts scrapping. They went at it for over 20minutes in the morning last week. Broad daylight. He was withing 15' of them the whole time.

I was doing a combo scouting trip a few years ago checking for elk sign for a buddy and late archery deer started in a few days so I was checking deer sign and walked into 2 bucks that had a 20’ circle in the trees tore to hell

I had just grunted a couple times to cover my noise and came around a little ridge to see 2 white faces staring me down less than 20yds (25 yr old reprod)

The closer buck (and I assume the victor of the fight) hackled back up and started stiff leg walking straight to me, he had to be literally 6-7 yds when he stopped and started snort wheezing at me every breath, but it was a gnarly snotty raspy snort wheeze.

One of the craziest deer encounters I have ever had, I seriously thought he was going to mow me down, it was wild. Finally I felt the wind on my back and he slowly deflated and slowly turned and walked to the other buck and they walked off together. That is the only time I have heard a blacktail snort wheeze, and it was way more intense than I have seen on video with whitetail, it was long drawn out snort wheezing blowing snot, doing it every breath

They had a big circle of ground tore up really bad, it must have been a pretty intense fight I barely missed, and that is the closest I have come to being attacked by a deer, haha. I had nothing to protect myself if he decided to mow me down, he seemed to be completely blind with rage

That is super cool after the fact!

years ago I shot a nice mature buck with two does peak rut in open timber. As I took a few pics and started gutting, the does just stood there at 30 feet watching like they couldn't understand why the buck just layed there.
I kept an eye on them just because I find deer behavior interesting. I saw them simultaneously look to my right with alert ears. I followed their stare to find another nice mature buck walking right up to me like he was scent trailing the buck and does.
When I stood up he spotted me and just casually did a 180 and disappeared back into the timber.
