Black Ovis just released their new Terrace pant. https://www.blackovis.com/blackovis-terrace-pant.
I’ll be trying them out this fall and winter but here’s a first impression. Let’s start with the sizing and fit. There’s a note about running slightly small so I went with a 36x35 that fit just right. If you’re an average build I would recommend sizing up an inch on both the waist and inseam. To me the cut is a standard athletic, not baggy or skinny jean. A decent amount of stretch with a gussetted crotch and articulated knees makes them comfy right out of the package.
Some noteworthy features are the hip vents (no mesh liner) with a two way zipper. For the cargo pockets BlackOvis made one with a zipper and one with a quiet close button snap, I’m expecting this combo to be very versatile. The fabric is a tight weave with a lightly brushed lining but I wouldn’t call it a fleece lining.
I’ll get them outside soon but here’s a couple pictures to show the layout and color. The subtle label on the pocket is a nice touch. Let me know what questions you have and I’ll update this as I try them out.
***Edit 12-13-24***
There is a few improvements I would like to see. First is being cut a little more generous. The quiet snap button on the cargo pocket could be hold a little better. Rear pockets don’t add much value with how small they are. A lighter version would be a great complement. That being said I would still recommend the Black Ovis Terrace Pants as a versatile midweight hunting pant at a very competitive price point. With hip vents and lightly brushed fleece they provide a wide temperature range. Large cargo pockets make accessing items a breeze. The softshell fabric is quiet, durable and all day comfort. Pair them with rain pants insulation or a base layer as needed and you’re set for just about any conditions.
