To those that use Black Powder and specifically peep sights when hunting. Is there any worries about futher distance shots and sight picture? Say 200-300 yards. I wouldn't really think so since am elk is a fairly big animal. Hoping to hear some input. Planning on a hunt in the future 2027/2028 and deciding between Black Powder or Centerfire Rifle. The hunt will be in NM. The unit is primitive only, but I guess allows Black Powder but only open or peep sights and seems like a low tag draw area and there are several ranches who have landowner tags in the same particular unit. I haven't shot a peep sights in a really long time or used a bow in a long time. I know how to shoot, eyes are good. I don't think it would be that big of an adjustment? Thanks for input.

What is your rifle and load you are using? For me, it would be farther than I would want go. Going to try for blackpowder bear and deer tags this fall here. Looking to get within 100 yards. Deer will be spot and stalk on the plains and bear will be waterhole sits.

My advice would be to shoot enough this summer to have a very firm grasp on your capabilities. Only you can answer this question based on those results.

Custom made muzzle loader. Not worried about ballistics and accuracy as out to 500 can supply sub moa groups. It will be more of the peep sightand the target picture. I know how to shoot, just not to much experience with peep sights. But I don't think it would be that difficult to get used to. My eyes are like the average person.

I've posted multiple videos of me shooting clays at 300yds and steel spinners at 200. I can make a 500yd vid when I get some time and weather.
