Black Ovis Camofire Bankruptcy

I returned some puffy pants that were the wrong size and they arrived at the warehouse over two weeks before they announced they were out of business and they never refunded me. Didn’t think much of it until I heard they were out of business. I tried calling them and emailing them but no reply. Unfortunately I bought them on my debit card so I guess I’m out $160…

Wells Fargo treats their debit cards the same as a credit card is regards to fraud protection and charge disputes. I would check with your bank.

Abusing it is definitely wrong, but you shouldn't feel bad/wrong/like an asshole for disputing charges with your debit or credit card provider.

The company giving you the runaround, failing to provide service, or straight up not delivering the product you paid for sure as hell doesn't feel bad for you.

Definitely dispute with your card company. That’s why those safeguards are in place. You paid for an item not received.
I’ve had great luck with Capital One on disputes, in case that’s your card company.

It is crazy how easy it is to dispute charges and get your money back. I’m sure some people take advantage of it but it is a very powerful tool for consumers. I don’t like doing it but if products aren’t arriving, emails aren’t getting answered then it’s a good way to go.
I sell products online and people have figured out how easy it is to do chargeback scams. I had a bunch of them this spring, mostly on eBay. Even when I had undeniable proof that the customer received the item and eBay denied their refund, the scammers credit card companies would still refund their money. Crazy

Im sure lots of people do it as a scam. I actually thought a place was giving me the run around last week, I'd bought something, never got shipping confirmation or any sort of email. Sent maybe 4 messages through their "contact" us thing on their website with no response, then I tried to call and was placed on hold for 40 minutes.

I went online and disputed the charge, turns out their email response was going to my spam folder, Luckily I caught it quick enough I was able to cancel the dispute. I still need to call that place and apologize, I just feel stupid for getting all worked up when it would have all been solved if I'd thought about checking my spam folder.

I did reverse the dispute though so at least they get paid and there are no ill gotten gains.
