I'm in the market for a thermal monocular. Anyone know of any BF deals? I'm currently leaning towards the AGM Taipan 15-256, but would maybe step up to the 15-384 if there's a great deal.

Take a look at Rix handheld. For the money they are hard to beat

Thank you. Have you used one of the models, and if so, which one?
Yeah i have the K2 & the taipan. I much prefer the K2. The K3 is a 384. I haven't used that one yet. I plan on picking it up soon. A 384 for $700 sounds awesome

Get the Rix K3. Much better than the AGM models. I’ve had a few. The K3 also fits in rangefinder pouches which is nice.

Preferably under $1k. My use case is game recovery
The only reason I asked is the new scopes have driven the price of the older 35mm 384 scopes way down. A 640 resolution scanner with a range finder is only $2500 now. Those older ones can be had for around $1000 now.

Buying a used 384 scope set up as a scanner will be way better vs the ones listed. I have a 2x 384 I use for getting in and out of my stand.

Thank you. I had not considered that option. Is there a particular brand, and how easy is it to pocket that size scope over a monocular?

And I suppose the scope gives me options for coyotes and pigs.

Scopes won’t be as easy to pocket as the smaller monoculars, but mainly due to larger objectives and mounts. AGM, Bering optics, Iray, pulsar(scanners). They will keep getting cheaper as warranty runs out and tech keeps improving!
