All I saw in the article was a third party speculating that the theft was for anti-hunting purposes. The fact that the stands and cameras were recovered when the policed executed a search warrant suggests thy intended to keep them (why not just vandalize them otherwise?)
Either way, we should wait and see what Black Diamond does before coming to any conclusions. As for the attorney, I'm sure she's in trouble with the bar association. I'm also sure that there are protocols for dismissing a public employee that have to be followed, so don't be surprised if the city doesn't appear to be acting immediately.
