Binoculars in the 1k range

Hey everyone,
I’m new to the world of higher end optics being I had a pair of 15+ year old bushnells previously. That said I’m looking to possibly get the Tract Toric UHD 10x50s, the Maven B6 10x50s or the Meopta MeoStar B1 Plus 10x42 HDs. I also have some interest in the Sig Sauer Zulu6 HDX series but not fully convinced yet.

I’m curious if any of you have any experience with these optics and which you would recommend? Also I know that Meopta no longer has a service center in the states, is that a deal breaker for these quality optics in your opinion?

I am also open to suggestions on binoculars in that 800-1200ish range (I know maven is $1250) outside of those three. I am in the Eastern US so I don’t live or die behind my glass like many of you fellow hunters out west so I’m not wanting to spend 2k on Swaros.

Of those 3, i almost bought the tract toric after getting to play with them at an outdoors show, hard to say how they are in the field because everything looks great in a lighted venue. Only thing I didn’t like was the eye cups. They seemed to loose.

I ended up going with kowa genesis 10.5x44 after being able to sit outside and glass a hillside and picking out deer 2+ miles away on an overcast day.

That’s my goal is to try hopefully all three but at least the Maven and Tract at an outdoors show this weekend. EuroOptic will also be there so I’m hoping they have a pair of Meopta, possibly the Kowa Genesis now to look at and a few other pairs of binos. I’ll have to look into the Kowa more!

Find some used 8x42 SLCs or ELs for your intended use.

I hunted with 10x42 SLCs for a long time. They’re phenomenal glass, just a little more magnification than you need in the east. I currently hunt with sig Zulu 6 12s. The image stabilized sigs are black magic on September elk hunts. A little too much magnification and narrow field of view for the east. Since I hunt both every year, I’ll deal with them being perfect for the elk hunting I do and ok for whitetails.

I’ll have to see what I can find, I didn’t realize I could get a used pair of SLC or ELs for close to the higher end of my budget.

They are legit awesome glass, yeah a bit on the heavier side but I don’t find it a hindrance. Some have complained about the eye cups but it’s been a non issue for me, I set them all the way down or one click up.

I’ve been using them mainly off a tripod, glassing 6+ hours a day and VERY little of any eye strain and the depth of field has been great, I find I rarely have to adjust the focus wheel.

You can usually find them on sale or demo deals as well.

I sold my SLC 10s (last model they ever made) with an outdoorsman stud on here to another member for 1200 a few weeks ago. They were fresh back from SWARO and for all intents and purposes, brand new.

I regularly see lightly used SLCs and ELs going for 1k-1350 if you’re diligent and jump on good deals quickly.
