Billys a 6-year-old, 16 hand, half draft, bay gelding that we are offering at the Cody Horse sale. Good with most everything, If you know anyone looking for a solid hunting horse with lots of years ahead of him look no further. Hed also make a pretty good dressage/playday horse, but this probably isn't the crowd for that lol unless you want to work that angle on your wife ha.

When I retire my plan is to buy a horse for SaR in my area. I now know who I am buying a horse from. Great looking and well trained animal.

Out of curiosity what’d he sell for….or what’s a horse like that typically sell for?

Sold at the Cody Horse Sale, results are posted as well as past sales to give some historical data. Congratulation to wymtnpounder.
Sold his mule at Jake Clark’s auction today, hope you are happy with the results. The final listing of the Clark sale is not yet up but prior years are for similar information.

I’m curious about your choices for training, you are not a breeder. You train a variety of animals with varying genetics all seem to turn out well. How do you choose and at what age?

I like gentle, first and foremost. 4-5 is a good age for me. At that age they’re mature enough to start training/go to work , however the older they are the more people problems I usually have to fix. The ones I get at two usually turn out the best but are on the feed bill longer without “earning it”. Our market isn’t for performance quarter horses, but if a quarter horse doesn’t want to do that and they’re gentle sure I’ll try them. By having a variety of sizes, breeds and colors we try to satisfy future customers. For the most part our market is quiet, experienced, trail horses for retirement age folks usually women.
There’s no bad color on a gentle horse.
