It'd be a lot easier to decide if you had any idea what the muzzle diameter would be. This thing better shoot ragged holes.
Just talked to PVA, they say that each barrel is uniquely tapered in-house, and that regardless of length, every barrel of the same contour ends up with the same diameter at the muzzle. I'm going to have this one rethreaded 1/2x28 and use a basic bushing to get back up to 5/8x24 with an adequate shoulder for my CGS can.
If you're going to order a PVA prefit, definitely give them a call and talk about what the final muzzle diameter is going to be if it's important to you in any way, they're very personable on the phone.
Any feedback on the barrel? Looing for a lightweight prefit for a tikka nowDid quite a bit of digging on this topic a few weeks ago when on the market for a 6cm tikka prefit.
Ending up feeling pretty confident ordering from PBB. Groups will confirm my choice in June hopefully.
Post #38 page 2. Got about 300 rounds down it yet, still shoots tightAny feedback on the barrel? Looing for a lightweight prefit for a tikka now
My factory Tikka barrel shoots factory Hornady 0.3-0.5 MOA ammo. I ordered two PVA barrels in 6.5 PRC and 6 Dasher, both barrels are very, very inconsistent. They do not shoot non-factory ammo or handloads. They are very inconsistent in their turnaround times. I will not order any more barrels from them.
I tried 75 feet and 100 feet. Nothing helps. How tight are you torquing them to the action?
When I was choosing a barrel for my rifle I found this thread with reviews about PVA so I decided to order two barrels from them. I understand you are advertising their products? For all:
This post is not congruent with the vast majority of our experiences with PVA, which have been overwhelmingly positive. Take a new accounts single digit post count complaints with a very large grain of salt. Highly doubtful that this poster has reached out to Josh to troubleshoot and still come to this conclusion.
Or RedHawk Rifles and hand it off or have it shipped to a gunsmith of your choice to chamber and fit up.Can someone tell me where I can order a Bartlein barrel for the Tikka?
