Have you ever won some random big raffle item? Not talking about a NWTF raffle, that's easy. A big random raffle ticket you thought you were wasting your money on. A lucky draw.

Nope. I am not very lucky but I keep buying in the hopes to win sometime. Hell I can't even win a 50/50 drawing. You never know maybe next time will be the one.

I had a big win 9 months prior to my birth. The odds were terrible.

When I was 18 (1994) I spent $20 at some banquet and won $500. My dad suggested to donate $100 back, so I did. Then I used the rest of the money to buy a Browning A Bolt in 7mm. I hunted with that gun and killed a pile of deer and elk until about 2010. I got tired of it rusting, it wasn't stainless. So I bought another in stainless but 300wm.

At the time, I was a poor college student and had an old hand me down 30-06. So it was a big deal to me.

Since then I have won several larger raffles of different types of guns. But that first was the most significant since I didn't have a any money at all. Now I sponsor probably 8 or so banquets a year and give guns away or donate them to youth programs.

Renewed my huntinfool membership back when they'd give you an entry for that and won a sheep hunt. Also referred my day which they give you a ticket for and won a deer hunt in Alaska.

Last year I drew the lone desert sheep tag that Colorado makes available to non-residents. The year before that my son drew a John Day California bighorn tag. Not sure either of us will top those.

I did win a gas station raffle in northern Wisconsin when visiting a colleague’s field site, this was decades ago. Won a rem 700 .338 win mag. Sold it before shooting it.

from Cameraland in their monthly drawing on this site. Its not a sheep tag or the powerball, but I was psyched given my history with raffle entries donations.
