I have a mountain hardware ultra lamina 15 and I also use an insulated exped pad. The pad is the ticket! My bag is still going strong after 8 years or so. The only thing I hate is the zipper is poor. Small details, like the zipper, make a big difference.
I have not used the kifaru, but they have center zips, which are awesome. My summer bag has a center zipper. Given what I know from the many kifaru products I have used, they are built to last. I would pick up the slick bag if I was willing to spend that kind of coin. In the meantime, it is worth it for me to put up with the shitty zipper.
