anyone have any experience with the 115 dtacs with the nose ring? having a 6gt built and this is what I plan on using.

More to the point from my response above- I/we have used them from 3,000’ish FPS impact to 1,600’ish FPS impact and above 2,300-2,400fps impact fragmentation usually occurs- sometimes yawing (tumbling). Below 2,300’ish- penetrating 4 to 7 inches then yawing (tumbling) is the most common behavior.

To beat a dead horse, or rather a sheep.. a 200 lb Ram I suppose is more akin to a Mule Deer than an Elk. If you were hunting sheep or Mt Goats Form, with ranges out to 700 yards and an impact velocity of 1800-2000 fps, perhaps you might choose an ELD-M over the DTAC? I’d hate to end up with a bullet that is penciling through like a mono when the body cavity isn’t that big on a sheep.

ELD-M or X without question. The 112gr Barnes MatchBurner is ideally suited to deer/sheep/goats as well.

True and good example.

I wouldn't use this rifle for that application. I'm talking along the lines of whitetails from 75-200 yards, so the velocity stated it should work just fine.

The Barnes Match Burner 112 has been fantastic for me. It acts like a 215 Berger Hybrid does.

I was wondering what you have killed with the 112's? I am really considering building a gun to shoot them.

What’s a great hunting round we can use for this? My go to is etip or Barnes 180s for my 300win, would love a few ideas to try at the range for the 6mm
If it's a 6cm, you can get lapua/Berger ammo with 105,108,109, eld match 108, Barnes has 112 ammo. All on the shelf usually.

Interested in any more info on the 112s. Looking for a bullet two use in two rifles. An 18" 6cm for hunting whitetail and a 26" 6cm match rifle. Leaning 109 or 108 Hybrids but the 112 match burners would be a hell of a lot cheaper and have a higher BC. A little concerned on consistency though from what I've read.

Thank you! I picked up 200 of them to break in my new barrel with and test out. Hopefully they shoot well for me and I can use them for matches and hunting.

At 2480 were you a couple hundred yards out? What's the closest shot you've had with them?

414 yards on this Blacktail. Starting MV of 3,003 fps from my 6 CM. 3,000 ft elevation.

About 30 minutes later my buddy used the gun to kill another Blacktail at 90 yards. High shoulder shot that destroyed the shoulder and spinous process and lodged in opposite shoulder under the skin. Sorry bad picture, but shows that even at that velocity the bullet didn’t “explode”.
