Like the title says, looking to upgrade tripod and hopefully get lighter and more steady than my old manfrotto bee free carbon. It's ok except in strong wind, I get constant shaking in the scope.
Is outdoorsman's still the solid option?
Tried one side by side in major wind and was impressed with its steadiness. But I know they aren't ultralight but neither is the 88 but I'm packing everywhere when I'm after mule deer. Tried the mini swaro and can't give up that much performance where I'm usually at.
Aziak?
Tricer?
Others?
Note: I can't stand twist locks. Want some center column.
-Only need seated height.
-Kowa 88 is fairly light for big glass.
-Love the VA-5 but open to suggestions.
- Budget is sorta open.

Like you I can't stand the twist locks:

Mutnt gear has a flip-lock tripod. - Not SUPER lightweight but hell of a lot cheaper than the outdoorsman.
I have a Sirui ET-1204 I think which is a flip lock as well, about the same weight as the Mutnt but a little shorter packed length.

Sirui is seated only for me (6'5") if you were 5'8"ish you may be able to stand with the center column extended.
Mutnt appears to be standing height but as a result the packed length is like 22" instead of 16"
