What's up all! I recently built a 16" supressed grendel for daughter to hunt with. I'm looking for a bullet (reloading) to maximize her range. Whitetail and Mules central Nebraska.

Bolt or Gas?

I’ve had good luck with 123 SST, ELDMs, and Amax; as well as 120 Speer Gold Dots. Recently though I’ve moved to lighter bullets as a way to get a bit better mpbr for closer shots. The 123s in a 16” Grendel are pretty slow. 100 grain bullets at 2600 more closely mirror larger cartridges with more familiar trajectories like the 308 or 06. The 100gr Scenar has worked well on a dozen deer, have a pile of 107TMK’s that shoot just as good but have not used on game yet.

The 123 sst has worked well for my with shots at 40,45, and 80y. Two deer melted in place, the other made it 20y.

120 Nosler BT will be up first for me this year. If I get a second deer the 120 eldm is next for testing.

My kid used the 123 eld-m and x at about 2450 fps suppressed with ok results on a couple of huge bodied muley bucks. I think I'm going to try some handloaded 100 gr TTS-X Barnes for this year and gain some speed.

My favorite bullet for deer from the Grendel is 129gr Nosler LRAB. It does fragment but stays together very well for penetration. I have yet to recover any in game as they have all passed through even with high shoulder shots.

Partition I have used in many calibers on lots bigger critters including elk, I have full faith in those bullets as well.

I’m really happy with the 123 eld-m. I also built a 16” Grendel for my kid. Hand loading I can run those fast enough to shoot as far as I care to.
