Best damn burger joint.

The Owl Cafe in San Antonio, New Mexico. They are huge, plus for $6, you can't beat the price

What are we after before heading in to or coming out of an elk area in each elk state? Well… a great burger IMHO! It’s that simple you wild bohemians, post up “your choice” of an epic burger joint in the elk state(s) you frequent. Here we go.
I stopped and had an awesome Burger at a joint called the Red Onion on my way to AZ Bike Week. Awesome burger in a small mountain town with elk crossing signs on the roads to and from the town. I believe the name of the town is Heber AZ

Big Burger World - Canyon City, CO. Absolute biggest burger I have ever had, and an insane amount of bacon. It isn't fancy, but it is good!
I’m in the “it isn’t supposed to be fancy” hamburger crowd. And the bun isn’t supposed to be bigger than your mouth. Edited to talk about the bun, what I should have said the bun should not be so tall you can’t fit it in your mouth.

They have smaller burgers for those that haven't worked up a huge hunger. Not sure what exactly you are referring to in regards to fitting in your mouth. But this bigger is large, but not tall. So you get a lot of food without stretching your cheeks too much.

Coyote Bluff Cafe, Amarillo

It's not in the mountains, but it may be on your way to the mountains.

I always always always stop here and consider it in my top 3 burgers anywhere, ever

Not a burger joint, but Ranch Hand Trail Stop in Montpelier Idaho hit a different level of good after a 7 day hunt a few years ago.

4 guys ordered something like 12 plates worth of food. The wait staff couldn’t believe we ate it all.
