What is a good boot for colder conditions? I'm mostly sitting in a deer stand or I"m doing some light hiking. I got some old Rocky Cornstalker's that are 600 gram Thinsulate but need to be replaced. These boots aren't exactly the most comfortable boot for walking a long distance either. I would really like to have a good leather boot. Like to hear some recommendations.

Thanks in advance for everyone's comments.

For that type of hunting I'd probably look at some Shnee's Pac Boots. Or possibly some insulated muck boots but I'd look at the Pacs first.

Look at Thorogood. Mostly USA made. Good selection. Great quality and pretty affordable. I love mine. Some of the best boots I have owned.

yep or the kenetrek pacs all good. with some good wool socks mainly darn tough. lots of times feet cold from walking in,sweating, then sitting. the pac liners help but the socks seal the deal

I have been using pac-boots for hunting here in Alaska since I was a kid in the late 60s. Started with the original Bean boots,
Eddie Bauer, Schnees, and now Hoffman.
The Hoffman are the best quality I have used, and they are far more reasonably priced than the Kenetrek or Schnees!!

The uninsullated Kenetreks have been great. It was about 15-20 degrees earlier this week and using a Smartwool liner and a heavier sock my feet didn't over sweat and they stayed warm even in snow.

I've also been looking for a cold weather boot. Comfortable in the 0-30* range, waterproof, durable, and able to handle a load.
These UA Boots caught my eye. Anyone use them? 800gr of insulation seems like a good mix of warmth, yet not to warm for hiking??
They offer a 1200gr option as well, but thinking that might be to warm for hiking. ?? My feet tend to run cold, so I'm leaning toward the warm as I can stand hiking angle.. :)

twall13 Has the right idea. Check out our pac boots. Our Extreme is our warmest boot and pretty toasty when the temps drop into the negatives. they are made by hand right here in bozeman, mt.
