So let's hear what everyone thinks... Take into consideration im looking for a deep (baseball type) hat for my big noggin, one that's lightweight for warm August deer into September elk hunts.... If Kuiu made a deep hat using the tiburon Id be happy. So does kryptek or any other companies make a similar type lightweight hat?

I haven't been able to find a billed hat out of a summer specialty fabric thats camo. The sitka cap is ok. The bill on mine is only 2 3/4. My fav is the kuiu boonie.

I also have a very large cranium so I feel your pain. The Sitka ball cap fit my head good enough where I'd put up the 25 dollars to buy it.

Sitka just announced a new stretch fit cap that I look forward to trying out. Looks like it has a deeper cut also judging from the pictures.

Thanks for info guys the sitka one does look promising.. I'm not a boonie type and in warm weather the beanies too hot for me. As of now the best deep baseball type hat imo which is lightweight is a truspec vented hat they just out called the quick dry contractors cap, which only CAMO is multicam. Here's link if anyone's interested in this one.. This ones a great hat but always looking for more especially hunting brand company.

Do they make heavy hats? Every baseball cap I've ever worn is lightweight. I have probably 2 dozen camo baseball caps laying around that I wear hunting.
yes they do ... If you need it clearer heavy as in non breatheable, non vented, etc. with thick (normal) material. I run and bow a lot and work up a sweat so most hats dont breathe at all and increase head temps.. At least for me.

I just bought an OR Outdoor Research Radar hat in multi-cam. My new "go to" hat. A little shorter brim, foldable and flex-fit sizing. Not hot weather mesh but a great hat.

I don't think I've ever seen any of those. All mine are just normal baseball style hats with vent holes in the top. All I do is sweat on my hunts. I usually don't even wear my hat when I'm hiking in in the dark, just to help the heat from my head dissipate better. Last year I was running so hard a few times that I was soaked head to toe with sweat.........but that's elk hunting.

I use a light camo cowboy style in warmer weather. I love it. Light on the head, breathes, Keeps the sun off my ears too. Great in keepin the rain from coming down my neck. I also have a felt crush able hat that I wear when its cooler or colder out and might snow. Again, keeps rain and snow from coming down my neck.

I've never found a baseball style hat that does not keep heat in when its hot. And I've owned a lot. When hunting I switch to a bandana and add black face paint under the eyes to help with the glare.

Those are are nice, lightweight hats but for someone with a big head, IMO, it may be a little tight to wear for 2 weeks chasing elk.

I've switched to a kuiu thin merino beanie and it's now my go to head covering. I got their thin merino neck gator now too and can use it in many different configurations to keep the sun off.
