Trying to get a new hat for hunting. I've used the Sitka hats primarily. Just trying to find a comfortable hat and one that is water resistant. I'd rather not walk around the woods with a soaking wet cotton cap on my head. Any suggestions?

kuiu has a decent cordura nylon hat, not waterproof but DWR and quick drying.
there are a few goretex hats on the market if you are so inclined, I think I saw a goretex ball cap made by cabelas.

How does the First Lite hat breathe? Does it get crazy hot if you're hiking in warm temps?

iCON hat for the rain and Tiburon hat for all other weather conditions.

Icon dries super fast and the DWR works very well.

I thought it breathed quite well. It's a thin nylon or similar material. I had long hair during hunting season, so couldn't really tell very well. The only weird thing is the bill. It comes flat and seems like a material less rigid than the standard cardboard. I haven't really worked on it to try and get it to hold a curve, but it doesn't seem like it would hold shape all that well.

Black Palm Syndicate makes a killer hat in the kryptek patterns. No button, flex fit. I believe it's the Alpha material kryptek used to sell on their website. Doesn't soak up moisture, breathes well and dries quickly. Probably my favorite hat that I've ever owned, and I'm a big time hat whore.

I thought that FL hat looked a little goofy, big FL but thought it was an awkward design hat. Definitely will check out the KUIU and the Black Palm Syndicate PathFinder is talking about

I really like the look and specs of the Black Palm Syndicate ones. I might have try one. Now, Multicam or Kryptek?

I like the looks and style of the Black Palm hat.....but that velcro patch area bothers me. They said that I'd damage the hat taking that patch off too....so what patch to put on the thing would be the next decision.

So I lost my Sitka ball cap on my caribou hunt last weekend. Looks like a replacement would be thirty-five bucks. Yikes!

So before I drop that kind of coin on a ball cap that I'm probably going to lose again, does anyone have any suggestions?

I really liked the Sitka Optifade, but I'm not married to the brand - just want a light, synthetic camo ballcap.

I like the Sitkacaps too. Have them in OC and forest. I don't think you really get to appreciate them until it rains. You can find them on Ebay for $25 if your patient. Well worth it in my opinion.

I wear a waxed (Alaska Raft and Kayak, local company), ball cap for everything when I'm not working. Whenever I wear one out I just replace it with another one (I'm on my 3rd one and have been wearing them for the last 20 years or so). You do occasionally have to re-wax them, but they wear very well and last for years.

Your already wearing the best hunting ball cap out there, Super comfortable, breathes well, dries quickly, the only downside is cost.

I wear a sealskin baseball cap with natural camo (from the fur pattern). Breathes well. If I don't wear that, I wear my Marine Corps pith helmet, great for rain or sun and breathes well, although not a baseball cap.
