Big Hats for Big Heads

I’m only 7 5/8, but the Sitka trucker that aren’t the lo/mid fit pretty well, usually leave me with 3-4 more snaps as opposed to the most others only having 1-2.

Stone glacier fits well with 2 snaps left.

Simms hats normally fit decent again so long as it’s the standard size.

As others said, Melins actually fit and have plenty of room left.

Not a huge flat brim guy but it’s often the only
Option.

Got two Mammoth Headwear hats in the mail yesterday. Great fit, definitely what I was looking for. Not just in circumference but also in volume. Super pricey though…

I too have an oversized melon. Have been looking for an orange, insulated Elmer Fudd type hat with ear flaps. Yeah, yeah, I will look like a complete dork but at my age, warmth trumps looks. I have learned that the term "one size fits all" is a lie. I need something that will accommodate a size 8-ish.

Any of my big headed comrades have recommendations for a beanie? Most fit me like a Yamaka..

I wear the Carharrt ones usually because they are dirt cheap at the end of the season at the ranch store. They just stretch out and get too saggy/slouchy.

I struggle to find comfortable hats too. I have a big head and the one size fits all never works for me. My favorite of all-time is The North Face Horizon in L/XL. 100% nylon and super lightweight. Try one, you probably won't go back to heavier hats.

I wear an 8.

The legacy old trucker hats are the only ones that fit. On the last notch, but they fit.

King and Fifth hats fit my big head the best of any I have tried so far, and I am about a 7 7/8. They also have beanies as well but I have not tried them yet. Cheaper than some of the other optioned mentioned.

I might be late to the party here, but I found the stormys run a size or two small. I have a 7 3/4 head and i wear an 8 in a stormy. The 7 3/4 don't even come close to fitting me

Oddjob Hats are the best I've found. They exclusively make large hats so there's no weird fit from "regular" hat dimensions being scaled improperly. Might have to hunt around a bit for colors that blend in the woods but the quality is way better than others I've tried. start with these:
You can get them with their design, no design, or custom-embroidered. They frequently run sales. I rarely buy at full price. Wearing a hat that isn't a last snap head tourniquet was life-changing.

As someone with a 24" head / 7-3/4 hat size, Seager's corduroy hats are by far the best fit I've found. I can get 4 snaps for a tight fit or 3 for a looser one. I hate flat brims and hats with super tall peaks, and these Seager lids have neither.

Now, if I could just find a hat with the same exact fit that comes in a super light nylon / stretch-woven and doesn't have a giant logo on it...

Have heard good things about Fractel's running-oriented hats and will likely try one or two this summer.
