Best All-Season Hunting Clothing?

Hi everyone,I’m putting together a versatile hunting setup for early fall through late-season hunts in varying terrain.Looking for advice on base layers, mid-layer insulation, quiet/durable outer shells, and must-have accessories like gloves or gaiters.Open to any brand (Sitka,Kuiu,First Lite,Kryptek) or good budget options.Thanks for any field-tested recommendations!

Hot- born primitive lite pants
Do all- Kuiu attack
Cold- Sitka timberline

Base layer
Synthetic Sitka
Merino first lite
Or just a poly cotton t shirt

Mids
Hot to cool- Sitka core lightweight
Active insulation- kuiu kenai
Cool to cold - a light/medium fleece quarter zip or just a poly sweatshirt. I’ve been wearing a UA cold gear sweatshirt in realtree for like 8-9yrs now and I’ve killed so much shit in it from sept to December. Don’t over think this stuff.


Insulation
Stone glacier Grumman or kifaru LPP
I’m a synthetic puffy pant kinda guy so FL puffy pants or beyond clothing. iMo I want them synthetic bc I’m going to walk through snow or wet sage or grass or sit in snow and I want them tough and fast to dry.

Rain
Pick a three layer jacket and pants if you’re only going to own 1 set. I run kuiu but I mean if it’s kuiu, goretex or e-vent I don’t think you can go wrong.

Acc
A light wind layer like a stone glacier dehavilland is nice to layer over the active insulation or my mids depending on temp and activity.

Outdoor research croc gaiters

Gloves and beanies is a wild world look to brands like outdoor research. Get a pair of mits, insulated gloves, that are water proof. Then grab some mechanical type gloves for cool days or the milsurp merino liners are good to. a minus 33 merino beanie in earth tone and orange. Best beanies made

Everything I mention is stuff I’ve used and replaced with the same thing or I haven’t found a reason to replace it bc it works. I’ve tried a lot of gear in the past 9-10yrs and it takes me from spring bear to summer scouting to cow hunts in December.

The most versatile system is one where you lean into layering with more lighter more breathable layers.

My base layers for late season are my early season pieces. Except for pants. So this is 15 pieces except socks/underwear. All of which I've found on the best deal I can.

Tops:
Sitka 120 Merino Hoodie
Kuiu 97 Fleece Quarter Zip
Black Ovis Specter Wind Jacket or similar full zip
Sitka Ambient Full Zip Jacket
Decathlon Synthetic Down Jacket
Pnuma 3L Rain Jacket.
If tree stand hunting - I add Pnuma Heated Vest in lieu of 120.

Bottom:
Ortovox 120 Merino 3/4 btm
Kuiu 97 Zip Off Btm
Hot Pant - OR Ferrosi
Mid Pant - FL Corrugate Foundry
Cold Pant - UA Windstopper Fleece
Kuiu Kenai Zip Off Pant
Pnuma 3L Rain Pant.
If tree stand hunting - I add Pnuma Heated btm in lieu of 120.

I could probably get away with two pairs of pants really.

Maybe not the most popular opinion but I ran Sitka for about three years and it’s great gear zero complaints and I ran first lite before that also good gear but I sold everything and I’ve moved to Scentlok now I mainly tree stand hunt for whitetail all public land in the southeast with trips up north for about 1-2 weeks a year in the Midwest and the occasional mule deer or elk tag (I draw every other year) now I needed gear that was tailored for the hunting I do most which is tree stand bow hunting/muzzleloader for whitetail and scentlok checked all those boxes it’s the most quiet of the other brands I’ve used, it’s warm (found myself barely using my fanatic gear in the southeast rare even in the Midwest in November and some of the stratus gear was too hot for my long hikes in on public with gear) I wanted something quiet, layer able with good features, and the scent control feature while I know is a little gimmicky I’ve seen it work in swirling wind situations in close quarters. Scentlok makes some really nice products I’ve got a lot of them and their heated vest is awesome for all day sits during the rut in January in north Alabama mountains plus I love Mossy Oak Country DNA which works in a ton of terrain where some brands are very specific. Just thought I’d give you my two cents good luck finding the gear that fits your hunt! Their stealth and savanna aero lines are great and I really like their headhunter pants for mid season they also offer merino base layers now as well I have the q zip and their gloves are customizable which is awesome.

I’ve been through so many pieces trying to find “the best” and it seems to never end, but, I think I have it narrowed down to a great set up

Bottoms:
Hot- born primitive frontier lites
All around- kuiu attacks
Cold- born primitive frontier heavy and kuiu axis hybrids

Base Layers:
Hot- black ovis realm (synthetic) blackovis venture (merino) /kuiu ultra merino 120(if you’re a merino guy like me)
All around- kuiu merino 145
Cold- sitka core 330

Mid layers:
All day every day- duckworth powder hoody (A MUST HAVE! My favorite most worn piece I own)

Jackets:
Insulating- Kifaru LPP/FL Chamberlin puffy/duckworth storm cloud (a little bit lighter wool insulating layer)
Shells- SG M7 (if you want water resistance and warmth) SG M5 (if you want a total wind breaker and water proof)

Summary is, I’m a big merino base, powder hoody mid layer guy, all the time, if it’s colder, I just up the merino base weight, and then throw an m7 over the mid layer, and if it’s still cold, throw a puffy under the m7. Plain and simple, base, mid, puffy, hardshell.
