Best all around Caliber??

I’m in the 308 camp if I had to pick one. I don’t have one at the moment but have loaded 208s to 2550 and light bullets fast.

Since I don’t have to pick one I have one of everything else lol

i have a 6.5 sherman short.brand new and havn't shot it yet.sure i am going to like it but with the cartridges listed i want the most horsepower if i only had one rifle.

Thinking a well built 7x64 brenneke would be good. Surprised it wasn’t already mentioned….

.270 or .30-06 for sure. Both can and have killed everything in NA. You don’t need a magnum for anything….

But life is about serving God and having fun and if you want something a little unreasonable… go for it!

Of all the rifles I have , I always go back to my 7mm-08. It shoots really well. It’s taken deer, elk, and has forsaken many of milk jugs.
With that said I’m building a 300 prc right now 😂

6.8 western is a good option even though it’s just a hopped up .270, I retired my tikka 3 years ago and have taken bear, and multiple deer out to 790yds on a mule deer buck and it’s been awesome

I also just debated this and went with a .308. For me it was 400yards and under so hard to argue against a .308

Considering the rifles you have(which are all really similar); and the desire to buy a new rifle. I would say a fast twist 22-250/22 Creedmoor or a 300win mag. You have the middle pretty well covered.

.223 would be my choice for best all around caliber. There are several different cartridges that employ it. This caliber can be used for everything from self defense, hunting, recreation, and war at an economical price.

caliber? My vote is quarter bore! As far as cartridge, I am doing a 25 SAUM waiting on barrel. That said, I think I would be just as happy with a 25 PRC.

A .308 diameter. For cartridge I’d choose .308 Win for commonality and availability, if those weren’t a concern as much my choice would change to 300 win mag.

For a strictly hunting/long range shooting cartridge, 280AI. You can shoot 180's at 2900fps pretty easily. Or you can shoot 120's at 3400fps. It's cheap to load for, and is enough to humanely kill any animal in north America. It's been used extensively in Africa as well. It's ideal if you're a reloader. If not, well I wouldn't recommend it as heartily, but there are still some good factory ammo options. It's a fantastic option.

I live in Texas but hunt out west as well. If you had to pick a caliber to do it all everything from Texas whitetail to Bull elk what would you choose? 308, 7mm-08, 7mmPRC, 30-06, 300wsm? ( i already have a 6.5cm, 6.5prc, 270. Just have the itch to buy a new rifle. I don't Wana hear save your money and buy more ammo for the guns I have lol)
22 creed/arc, 6 creed/arc/fast twist 243 or a 300 super wsm build.

You already have overlap in the middle ground, so you probably need to go to either extreme of smaller or larger.
