Best all around Caliber??

Maybe if rokside was representative of the hunting community as a whole. But it’s not.
But Rokslide is extremely well-representative of the hunting community that has loads and loads of experience. It is also representative of those who have been able to work themselves past Fudd-lore and start doing things an entirely different, far more efficient way.

Kinda like turbo 4-cyl hybrid engines of today being way more efficient and way more effective than the old guzzling V8s of yesteryear. Today's racecars are easily faster than the old ones. Same with today's .223 - 6.5mm cartridges kill every bit as well as any old blunderbuss but do it more efficiently and with far less recoil.

Since you already have a .270, the answer isn’t a .308 or an ‘06. Too close, hair splitting.

Since you already have a couple “six point whatevers,” the answer isn’t something less than thirty caliber. Why would you buy a “seven something or other” when you already have a couple “six point whatevers?”

So the answer has to be something bigger than thirty, but not a magnum because it’s to be an all around.

The answer is a big(er) bore like a .35 Whelen or a 9.3x62 - an ‘06 case opened up to .358 or an ‘06 case opened up to .366.

Don’t like that answer? Buy more ammo for what you already have.

But howdy, howdy, you’re from Texas, so…….
