Only clueless guides, but I haven't used a guide. My mountain goat was DRT with a 140 berger in the shoulder. Same as about everything else I shoot with them.

I regret not chasing goats earlier when I lived in Alaska for 10 years. Now I have to draw tags and get in line like everyone else.

What was the bullet velocity and distance on that goat? I'm using Bergers in 6.5 PRC and 7 STW with heavy for caliber bullets at or above 3k fps.

2900 fps muzzle velocity, aimed for and hit shoulder at 200 yards or so.

Berger bullets are trash.

Has anyone used or seen the berger bullets perform on mtn goats? My wife is planning on shooting the 168grain vld, as that is what the gun likes and shoots the best. With the ammo shortage, would it be worth trying to change it up to something different before her sept goat hunt?

Just used 140 vlds from a 65 prc on a very large billy. Shot to vitals dropped him dead on the spot. Guide was a berger fan as well.
