Bergara vs Tikka in 6.5prc

My next big purchase will be a multi cal suppressor, something like the banish 46 or something similar. So I'd personally love to have the threaded barrel, but it's not necessarily a necessity I don't reckon
You can always cut the barrel down a bit and thread for a suppressor when the suppressor comes.

Agree with everything here. But tikka is starting to thread most of their standard models. If you can find one of those it’s worth it. Suppressors are the best thing you can add to a gun after scope.
Indeed. The Superlite he mentioned, I don’t think those come threaded do they?

As you said all of the newer lites come threaded with a taper to the D16 barrel at the end.

Apparently the new t3x lite/superlite models come threaded now
Tikka’s website has never really been great on details. If you’re looking to order one of these and aren’t sure it’s threaded. Email or call Eurooptic to make sure you get what you want. They tend to have the best prices and have great customer support.

Tikka 6.5prc stainless varmint would be my vote if you don’t mind a little extra weight vs the light.
I’ve put around 50 rounds through my brothers bergara b14hmr this last weekend . The gun shoots well and handles decent, but for personal preferences I wouldn’t own one. The action isn’t as smooth vs the tikka and the 90deg bolt drives me nuts personally. The mag length is pretty much maxed with factory 147eldm ammo. It’s a heavy rig as well. I should have weighed it, but it is 100% as heavy as my 6.5cm tikka varmint in a woox chassis which is 12lb 3oz.
Comparison wise, the brother inlaw has a 6.5prc tikka ctr in a mdt xrs chassis. The gun shoots similar to the bergara, probably a good pound lighter. Downside is the mdt chassis uses AICS mags, so your in the same boat as the bergara if you want to hand load some 156’s out there a ways.

I was in the same scenario last year, after some research it seems the Bergara has more issues, tho few, then Tikka. That was enough to sway me away from Bergara. After a summer of shooting the tikka it has everything I could ask for. Some small additions to the factory stock as mentioned you are good to go.

I have had a Bergara in a 6.5 PRC. With Hornady ammo, shot 3/4" groups all day long. HOWEVER... Something you need to be aware of. Not with Bergara or Tika, but with the 6.5 PRC cartridge. I had 2 rifles chambered in the 6.5 PRC. Had a Bergara, currently have a Browning. I had ejection issues with the Bergara and worked with their Customer Service (which kinda sucked...).

I sent the rifle back to them after taking it on a hunting trip. When I fired the round, went to eject, on the bench is was perfect. In the field, a different story. I had jam after jam after jam. I could not figure it out until I videoed myself in slow mow running the rifle. The case would hit the rear of the ejection port and throw it back onto the stack in the magazine.

I took it back to my local Scheels where I bought it, talked with them about it. They took a Seekins rifle in the back and tried the same thing, running it fast and slow with a piece of fired brass. It functioned just fine, but it also had an angle cut on the ejection port. They sent it back to Bergara for me for repair, saying they agreed with me 100%.

After sending it back to Bergara, they got it, said it ran just fine for them. They sent me a video showing it functioned fine. In the video, it did... however, it wasn't my rifle in the video. I called them to ask about the rifle and emailed back and forth. They told me their gunsmith was able to duplicate the issue in my rifle after sending it back a second time. I asked what they were going to do for a fix, and they told me the fix was to not run the bolt so fast so the case had time to eject properly... I told them that wasn't going to be a fix as they obviously don't hunt.

I got with my local Scheels and they talked with their rep, who agreed with us and said it was an issue, he bought the rifle back at full purchase price. I bought the Browning after that.

I had the exact same issue... After talking with Browning, they told me they have had a few people complain of this, and it's not a fault of the rifle, it's a fault of the case. The case is short and fat, with most all the mass at the rear of the case by the head. When you run the action (short action), the case is long enough that it doesn't have time to eject properly and hits the ejection port. That's why you see some rifle's have recessed ejection ports, or at least angle cut ones.

However, I have a friend of mine who is a gunsmith and he suggested putting in a 2nd ejector. After that, the Browning I currently have runs flawless, regardless of speed. So if you get a 6.5 PRC, regardless of brand, be prepared for this issue unless you have a "custom" style rifle.

Otherwise, it's a fantastic cartridge. I highly recommend Berger ammo/bullets, by far the most accurate out of my Browning.

I’ve had a Bergara 6.5prc….. and now I have a tikka 6.5prc.
The tikka is just a better all around gun. Plus they have a rebate going now.

The Tikka 6.5 creed would be plenty. I've owned Tikka and bergara. Ill never own another bergara. If you must buy a new rifle and those 2 are your options Tikka all day.

I have a Bergara carbon 6.5 prc. It shoots lights out with the eld-m. I get .34 groups at 100 yards. I would not go with another brand after I shot the Bergara

I have a T3x in 300 wsm and I like it a lot! I also have two Bergara B14 sierra wilderness rifles .308 and 6.5 PRC. I like both those rifles a lot. With hand loads the tikka and 6.5 Bergara both perform very well out to 600 yards where I do most of my practice. They are both stellar for factory rifle. The tikka is a bit lighter and has a short bolt lift. The Bergara has a beefed up feel to the action of the tikka. Just feels different. Both run like slick glass for a factory rifle. I prefer the Bergara or Remington style action over the tikka but like how the bolt locks down with the saftey engaged on the tikka. Pros and cons to both. I think you’d be happy with either purchase. They both kill animals the same.

6.5 PRC Tikka’s are capable of this right out of the box

I had it shipped directly to Kampfeld for a barrel chop and thread at 20”. I’ve never ran a patch down the barrel and it consistently shoots comparable 10rd groups to this. Shooting factory Berger 156’s

Here’s the last group I shot a couple of weeks ago. Still haven’t ran a patch down the barrel

Small sample size but I haven’t had these results with my 7 PRC Bergara

Tikka. Bergara’s are plagued with issues. I’ve loaded for 4-5 and only one shot well but it took trying more bullet and powder combinations than I’ve ever had to use with any other rifle. My neighbor bought one in 300prc had to send it back and it still shot terrible, I think they offered to rebarrel it but he sold it. Then for some reason he bought another and it shot pretty terrible like the first one with multiple factory ammo options.

I'm in the market for a new rifle, and have settled on a 6.5prc, I recently had a tikka t3x lite in 6.5cm with the 24”~ barrel, and it shot great groups at 100yds, after buying and shooting a Bergara b14 in .300 win mag, it reminded me so much of my dad’s passed down Remington 700’s and I loved every shot, but 6.5 prc is a new round to me, not having very much experience with it, would you all recommend getting the tikka t3x super lite with the 24” barrel, or would the Bergara b14 sierra with the 20” barrel be sufficient. I’ll add that I intend to do some long range shooting and hunting with it.l, potentially hand loading and working up an accurate shooting load for it. Where I live in Virginia and hunt, shots won’t be over 150-200 yards, but I’m currently trying to get some tags to hunt out west, specifically Muleys and elk, potentially bigger game when my wife and I start the process of buying some land we’ve had our eyes on in Alaska. Any info would help! Thank you
I recently purchased a Bergara B-14 Wilderness Sierra chambered in 6.5 PRC with a 20 inch barrel. Really wish I could brag about its accuracy because the gun is great looking, smooth as butter, and gave me a good warm feeling inside. However I must’ve got a dud because I cannot get this thing to live up to the Bergara name, may have to send it back in. With that being said, I have a tikka tx3 in 243 that really doesn’t shoot well at all either. Unfortunately factory rifles are a bit of a gamble. Some are excellent, some are not. I think tikka and bergara both make a rifle that’s worth putting a REASONABLE amount of time into even if they don’t shoot well right off the get go. I would much prefer if mine was a shooter right out of the box but oh well. Sometimes a load development does the trick, sometimes you gotta send them back, sometimes they shoot any ammo very well. Unfortunately I’ve seen duds in the highest end rifles, and I’ve seen the cheapest crappiest rifles that feel like they came out of a happy meal shoot tacks. All in all, they both make great rifles, they both have duds.

Can't help you with Tikka or Bergara, but just to provide perspective have five 6.5 PRC and can rank four for accuracy (one is a match rifle so no point comparing it with hunting rifles):
1. Sauer & Sohn 100
2. Ruger Hawkeye M77
3. Seekins Havak (PH2 version)
4. Browning "Hells Canyon Speed"
The Browning ended up being a dog due to botched manufacturing. To Browning's credit they repaired it, but still not in same class as the others. The Sauer's accuracy was a very happy surprise, although for eye appeal the Hawkeye is my favorite. No longer interested in Tikka, but I've long looked at Bergara. Whichever rifle you choose please report results for collective information.
