Does anyone micrometer and a B-14 (prebabaly chambered one a 30-06 or any chambering with a 24” barre, and tell me the thickness of the end of the barrel, 2” from the muzzle and 4” from the muzzle?

Wondering if there would be enough meat on the barrel to thread it 5/8-24 and have a large enough shoulder for a harvester suppressor

Thanks!

If there isn't, you can go 9/16-24 and then get a precision machined adapter to 5/8 or muzzle devices threaded for 9/16. That is what I am having to do with a 30-06 I am having threaded right now. Just don't skimp on that adapter. A crappy one will have more tolerance stack. Precision Armament makes one.

With my harvester suppressor I can actually by an adapter that screws into the suppressor but I did already buy a 5/8-24 lol

How far back are you cutting and threading the barrel? How big of a shoulder will it have?

Would anyone be able to tell me what the diameter of the barrel of a 24” 30-06 is at 20”?

I am cutting it from 24 to 20. I'll let you know how much shoulder there is when I get it back. Should be this week or next.

That can be anything depending on the barrel profile. If you are asking specifically about the 24" B-14, I bet you could call them and ask.

I assumed there was only one barrel profile for the 24” barrels? I’ll give them a call

Not trying to be a smart ass in any way, but the Bergara Ridge comes threaded. That might fix your problem- unless you've already purchased the rifle.

The ridge is a good option but a fair amount heavier and I can find a new 30-06 hunter for under $500 right now

Hey sorry for the late reply on this. My smith was taking his good ol' time with my gun. With my sporter barrel, there is not much shoulder at all with a 9/16-24 thread. My barrel diameter right before the thread is .596 and the major diameter of the thread is .548. That leaves a shoulder of only .024 inches, but it is still enough to index a muzzle brake on. My smith made a custom brake for that thread size

Thank you for the feedback! Unfortunately that’s not enough to index a suppressor. I may have to go with the ridge by Bagara
