Barrel cut & thread or run an adaptor, Rem 700 375 H&H

I had my Rem 700 375 H&H cut & threaded years ago to run a muzzle brake for recoil management but unfortunately it was cut to a non- standard thread size, 9/16x28., before I was interested in running a suppressor. The barrel is currently 22". I'm considering either getting an adapter from the silencer store to convert it 5/8 - 24 for HUB compatibility or cutting it down to 18" and threading it at 5/8 - 24. What are some pro's/cons to both options? Long range shooting is not a concern. 400yds max & I primarily shoot Barnes 250 TTSX with H 4895.
