What was the most breathtaking country you have ever hunted or hiked in? Bonus points for pics and a description of the hunt. This pic was taken near the kanai peninsula in Alaska

La Garita Wilderness in Colorado 2015. 13 nights and well over a dozen bull elk in archery range but couldn't close the deal. The last full day got to spend the morning 200 yards from this bull moose for over an hour.

How long has that land been in the family? Has to be a long time, very few grandfathered in places in the wilderness.

Snowmass Wilderness Area CO in September is hard to beat after mountain goat. You get the aspens from the 7K ft. trailhead to the treeline of 10.5K camp to the hunting 13K peaks! And of course being CO in September you get snow and t-shirt weather in the same hunt!P1050223.jpg

Southern Alberta Rockies. Spend 4-8 weeks with camp set up for annual elk / moose hunting. Camping, hiking and fishing from March - August.

Above treeline in CO. Not the prettiest place I've hunted, but my best picture.

Seeing these posts reminds me that I never take enough pictures!

Love Alberta, the Colorado Rockies, and Utah but hard to top the Kaibab in Arizona IMHO. Such diversity.

Great photos so far. Love seeing different places and adding them to my list o' places to visit.

Here are a few of mine from over the years. Since hiking was part of the OP's plan here are a few hiking photos.

Looking east down the chain of lakes from Swiftcurrent Pass in Glacier National Park.

Granite Park Chalet from the top of Swiftcurrent Pass in Glacier. If you haven't hiked the highline trail through and over the pass, I highly recommend it.

Looking north from the edge on the Crypt Lake trail in Waterton Park. Super fun hike. You go through a natural tunnel to get to the lake.

Keep them coming.

And a few from hunts or fishing trips over the last few years. I've got thousands of photos, so I'll probably overshare.

Africa:
Leopard track on a hunt for that cat in Namibia. Leopard 1, Jeremy 0. I'll be back. We worry about bears and cougar (the cats, not the amorous older women). Leopards really do take a liking to people. Spooky sitting in the dark all night waiting for one to show up at the bait. Fun as hell, though.

Steenbok doe.

Damara Dik Dik mother and fawn. These little antelope are really neat.

Camp at night. Africa is awesome. Think all inclusive resort in the middle of nowhere. Literally take a rifle, ammo and 2 sets of clothes. That is all you need for Africa.

Azerbaijan Dagestan Tur hunt:
My trusty steed munching on spring grass. Incredible horses. Sure footed and bull strong. Also a little spirited.

Looking for tur. Kind of hoping there aren't any because it would be less than fun to go over there. The Caucasus are unforgiving mountains.

Resting during the packout. We were about 3 miles from the horses across some rather sketchy terrain.

And a few more.

Montana:
One of many archery elk hunts back home. Relaxing after a long day. You can't see it, but there are polish sausages roasting over that fire.

Low clouds one morning. The ranchers horse posed for a photo. Block Management is a wonderful thing.

Alaska:
This was a fishing/vacation trip with my wife a few years ago. Just some friends we met there.
