Beast broadhead real world experience

Keyboard warrior here. I’d use some pretty lousy broadheads before giving that stain on hunting a penny.

I played with the aluminum version at a tac event and was less than impressed with the build quality and sharpness. The vendor said he just took the head out of the package and it was no where near sharp especially for a high cost head and basically non sharpenable no doubt do they leave big holes but so do all other 2+ inch mechanicals.

Killed Elk, Bear and about 8 or 9 deer so far with them. they been fantastic in all respects except one. All have been 2inch versions and I have used both the TI and regulars in 100 and 125 grains
Durability been excellent, they have held up and worked again after every animal killed, One became icky last week after I my third kill with it in two days. It still worked however one blade was a little sticky.
They are sharper than anything else I used out of the package. They retake an edge with a strop and I haven't had one that had enough blade chatter yet after the first use that I wouldn't use it a second time.
Penetration and way above average compared to similar 2 inch mechanicals in my experience. Pretty much on par with the 1.5 sevr and 1.5 sever hybrid.. Wound channels and blood trails are consistent with pretty much every other 2 inch rear deploy mechanical I ever used.
The only negative I've had with the head is that I have had them open up in the quiver.


This year was a year for me to test mechanicals and so far I've had 26 kills with seven different heads. I have two more heads that I hope to kill with in the next three weeks. But I feel like at this point I have enough data to make a decision as to what I will use going forward.

I really haven't thought about writing it up. Honestly I very unfortunate to be able to bowhunt a lot, and any testing I do is primarily done for myself, I like to be able to use the equipment that gives me the best results and most satisfaction and confidence. I think that if I was too do a write up or study, I would need to have some better controls and documentation.
For example, I've used three different bows and at least 4 different arrow combinations with those seven heads, there would be a lot of variables in the results I have witnessed so far. Considering that all the brordheads did in fact produced the desired end result , most of what I witnessed, while it's super helpful isn't really conclusive. FYI I zero affiliation financially or socially with any companies hunting related, and everything I use I buy at retail. I have no stake in what use other than I value my time above everything else and what to use what I perceive is best for me at that time.

That is not how they operate. There is a back spring that pushes the blades back open. As soon as the back of the blades clear the bone, they shoot back open.

I think the concern would be that the ‘bone avoidance technology’ could result in the broadhead being compressed all the way to the closed position in rare cases. Is there anything that stops the broadhead from being fully closed to locked from bone impact? Do lungs offer enough resistance to reopen them if they did close?

I don’t have any experience with these at all (and I have an aversion to most expandables in general), so take that with a large grain of salt.

Well at least tell us what your favorite head out of the 7 is. You have to use one head all of next year, which one are you picking?
