Curious to see if anyone has tried the Bear Takedown longbow limbs? I know they’re new, and I haven’t seen any hands on reviews yet. I’m curious how they perform and thinking about getting myself a set if they’re legit.

I have seem them but not played with them. I bet the limbs are good, I would be more concerned with the geometry of that riser for longbow limbs.

Man, I love Bear Archery history. However the quality of the stuff they put out now is very questionable. “If” I was to buy any thing from them today I would have to get my hands and eyes on it first.

I really like my 2016 Bear takedown I have now, but I get that. One of the original limbs I had on there twisted and I’m on another, newer set now, and while they’ve served me well, the finish job on them is… not great. Zero complaints in the functionality department though.

I’m just wondering if the longbow limbs are truly the best of both worlds that I’m hoping they are, or just gimmicky.

RMS Gear has these used on their site. Not sure if it’s what you are looking for?

I had a pair of custom built ones for a season. Bowyer recommended a very low brace height I didn’t like. Also since I sneak around at times a longbow is no use for moving sticks and obstacles out of a path. Just my 2 cents

As opposed to a recurve? I have blown up limbs from side loading recurves, but never a longbow.

So I’ve spent a couple weeks with them now and the jury is out.

The good: It looks pretty cool. From pictures, the bow looks funny, but in person, it looks pretty awesome. Like a short D shaped longbow with a “modern” riser.

It’s really quiet. I have no silencers on my string at this point, and I don’t know if I need to.

Bear’s quality on these seems solid. My last set of recurve limbs I ordered a couple years ago have pretty lousy finish work. There’s lines all through it, and it’s a really fragile finish. These longbow limbs are clearly not the same finish.

The bad: It’s squirrely. It’s short with minimal r/d, so it doesn’t feel all that solid at full draw. Longer limb options would be nice.

It’s… stacky? Not in a normal end-of-the-draw stack kind of way. It’s a tough draw from the get go. These 45# kind feel tougher than my 50# recurve limbs on the same bow.

My arrow flight has been less than ideal. Maybe it’s more the fault of my arrow setup, and I’m still tinkering, but flight has been very wonky with lighter arrows. When I shoot heavy arrows (620 gr), they fly very straight and very quiet, but drop like a rock at 20 yards.

My impressions may change with more experimentation, but so far I’m not loving them.
