Hey fellas me and my hunting buddy leave for Saturday for Elk near WestCliffe,CO. I was considering grabbing a bear tag as well since they still have some available. How's the bear movement been around that area? Anyone know? Didn't know if it was worth grabbing on or just focusing on Elk 100%? Anyone around that area have any tips for me as far as bear?

If you want to run into bears then don't buy a bear tag. Lol

You're supposed to only share top secret info through a p.m. Now no one will buy a bear tag 😉

Jspradley you're on a comedy roll tonight, are you a comedian by trade? Hopefully Jason didn't kick your puppy too hard.

Ah, ok. I didn't realize he was a NR. YEAH THST MAKES A DIFFERENCE.

Hopefully for not much longer! Texas is too dang flat and hot for my taste! Yeah those NR tags are a good kick in the nuts!

I used to live across the mountains from Westcliffe in Crestone. Last fall I had a young bear climb into our kitchen window for Hummingbird syrup cooling on the kitchen counter and he took down 5 feeders in the yard.
Idiots who had lived there before us had fed wildlife, stupid thing to do

So yeah if you have a bear tag, the unwritten rules say you will never see one, I bought a archery bear tag to have on me while scouting for elk for 1st rifle season, figuring that way if I have one being a pain and raiding my camp, dead bear and I got a piece of paper to cover it

Same here. Bears would run by me all the time. Started getting bear tags and now don't see them. Still ponied up this year though. 350 smacks for me. Ouch. All the bears are in and next to town whenever we are out there. And no good for us as we are 40 miles from town.

Well i just checked, they are already capped off for my unit.

Ill just chime in and say if you want to avoid bears buy one. I used to buy a bear tag every other year and I had two years in between buying tags where bears came right up to camp. I spent some time quality time down opening weekend in that general area and didn't see any nor did I find any bear sign.
