Looking for some reviews or feed back on Bear Basin Outfitters. I am looking at purchasing a pair of Swarovski EL 10x50 binos. Bear Basin has a good deal going, but I wanted to check with my fellow Rokslide members to see if anyone has ever dealt with them or can provide feedback. Thanks!!

I've bought several optics through them throughout the years and they have always been first rate. And they've been around awhile.

I have bought several items from them. They are legit and been around a very long time. One of the first online optic retailers. They are not always the friendliest "at times" but all in all, would buy from them again.

I personally would NOT purchase through them.

Ordered a pair of 15x63 optolyth binos through them. Since they were just a town over , I asked if I could stop by their retail space to view them. I was told no, they were too busy and would have to wait two weeks.

I confirmed their return policy with the impatient guy on the phone that I could return these binos to their retail space if I didn't like the view. The guy kept interrupting me saying 'sir, SIR, you can return these as long as they are in resellable mint condition' yada yada.

Placed the order for these binos through BB as well as cabelas 15x56 to compare. It took multiple calls to BB just to get an order confirmation and tracking. Only getting things like 'Sir, I saw these leave the warehouse yesterday, they'll be there any day'

Getting the binos in the mail, the return address NOT from bear basin in California, but from Optolyth distribution in Texas.

They arrived pretty quickly and after comparing to the meopta/cabelas I went with the cabelas mostly due to the warranty and I didn't want BB to have my money after the nonsense. I called up BB and told them I would like to return them. They made me schedule an appointment just to drop them off at their retail/warehouse...fine

Get a call 10mins later telling me they won't take my return and I have to ship it back to optolyth, wait for a refund from them until I get mine. They also tried to take money off the refund for their shipping costs. After talking to a few people on the phone, I was able to convince them on a full refund.

Upon getting a refund, it still wasn't the full price I paid but at that point, I was surprised to get anything from that company.

Look up their yelp reviews for more stories. But I highly recommend going anywhere else for your purchase.

I concur with the 'less than friendly' attitude based on a short conversation.
If you know what you want and can get it without any interaction, I say go ahead.
I've had good dealings with SWFA, FWIW.
Gr8tful Doug is a sponsor here and that is worth looking into.

I've only purchased one optic from CameraLand but it was a very pleasant experience - check Amazon too, I saved $100 last fall by checking on Amazon for a new Geovid

I would try Eurooptic.com, I have purchased three Swarovski items and they are first rate. They have price matching to.

Looks like Bear Basin has a star and a half yelp rating.

Doug and Joel at Cameraland are top notch. Don't hesitate to call them and explain what you are after and they will likely help you find what you need. Good folks that have been around a long time helping us hunters out.

Have used both Cameralandny (swaro z5 scopes) and Europtic (leica geovids).
Both great folks.
