As consumers we may not like it, but it is a relatively good business move on their part.

I don't begrudge SW owners taking the money and running but AssPro destroys every thing they touch. Enjoy 20-30% markup on anything quality if they even stock it. I'm sure they'll devote half the store to crap sunglasses and poor quality redhead gear at the expense of the reloading, muzzleloading, and fly fishing departments that were semi decent..

You guys bash Bass Pro a lot, which I get, but the one here by me is always busy. So someone out there is using them and spending their money there. May not be the super athlete Rokslide crowd, but someone is. If they were not, then they wouldn't be buying more business lol. Not saying you have to like them, but you do have to agree that there is a market they are filling. I do buy ammo online from them here lately. Normal prices and not gouged through the roof. Delivered free right to my door. Kind of nice.

What a bummer, I go into Sportsmans probably once a week to just walk around and check stuff out, usually find something I want. I tell my girlfriend its the Target for dudes. Don't feel the same about Cabelas/Bass Pro.

Sportsman’s Warehouse is private company too. Looks like an all cash deal. Sportsman’s owner is getting out, probably grew the company so big that other individual shareholders couldn’t afford to buy him out.

On the bright side, at least another outdoors company with a good history bought them, instead of that company that bought Remington.....
Sportsmans is a public company...

Funny you say that. Our Sportsmans warehouse is right next to Target 🤣

Glad they just built the new Scheels in MN. I am smack dab in the middle of two of them. I will happily drive by Cabelas Pro Shop (15 minutes) and Sportsmans to shop at Scheels.

Yeah people that like cheap crap... Walmart is always busy...doesn't mean quality. Good for Bass Pro if they are making money but it is nice to have options not just Redhead crap and generic everything else. Even before Bass Pro Cabelas was absolutely junk compared to what it was.

"OK Guys, first things first; clear out all this shooting gear and reloading equipment, we need need to move the optics and knives to the back of the store to make room for camo throw pillows, tinned carmel corn, and hunting themed cabin decorations."

Well, Scheels just better not sell out. I bet they know the main competition will boil down to just them and BP. You know BP doesn't really care much about outdoors people when they just start trying to soak up the whole industry for money's sake.
Its all about money, not supporting consumer outdoorsmen and conservation like they would like you to believe.

Ihave several pieces of cabelas branded gear that works and lasts. They made some good stuff. Redhead branded gear is terrible! Sportsman's Warehouse has been one of the better places to go over the years. What a crying shame that it, too, will go by the wayside.
