Bass Pro Quality Took a Downturn?

I agree. Cabelas isn't what it used to be. Options are not good there either. Seems like small local shops nowadays carry the better quality items with more selection. BP and Cabelas mostly sell their Redhead crap and its hard to find name brand quality gear. Quit shopping both places years ago.

I got a chuckle when hearing the fellow in the video note that Sportsman's Warehouse only exists today due to the FTC stepping in and blocking Bass Pro from acquiring them. A thing of the past soon enough...

Cabela's/Bass Pro has totally become the Walmart of hunting/fishing. Every now and again they have a deal on decent-quality gear, or just consumable stuff like an extra knit blaze orange hat or a pair of acceptable 10x42 binos when someone stepped on mine 2 days before opener (Grrr).

I will say that I appreciated being able to outfit my kids in perfectly serviceable Redhead gear for a few hundred bucks while figuring out if they were going to "take" to real backpack mountain hunting... before dropping thousands on name brand.

And you can still get ammo for common calibers at a decent price if you're patient.

You should all watch the full video... entertaining!

I never really shopped at bass pro. But there was a time when I said Cabelas don't put their name on junk. Now it is quite the opposite. That change happened around 10-15 years ago

Drove past what used to be Cabelas in Billings yesterday and it just has a Bass Pro sign now. Assuming they may all just be Bass Pro in the future.

Im not sure it Cabelas was ever great or if its some combo of my taste changing or my memory being rosier, but I dont really care for them much now. Wiping out most of the used gun sales certainly didnt help much. There is one near my dads house I will wander into from time to time but never for any actual hunting cloths or fishing gear.
