Hey guys,

I’m looking for a more roomy sleeping bag for using on a cot in a KC tent with heat as needed. I currently just have a 25 degree BA mummy bag which is fine but far from roomy. I think I’m imagining one of those heavy flannel lined typed bags from my childhood.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a roomy, rectangular bag that is easy on the wallet?

Weight is of 0 concern as it will go from my truck to the tent.

Browning as a couple hybrid mummy bags that are oversized and not expensive. ALPS actually makes them for them.
i think one model was the McKinley

I'm not a big fan of mummy sleeping bags. I just bought a fleet farm 0 degree bag and it works fine. I did hear slumberjack make good bags but have never tried them.

Check out Teton or Slumberjack Cotton/Flannel Bags, both super comfortable. I have both a 20 deg and heavier 0 degree Slumberjack and use with and Teton XL Cot and Outiftter Pad. Pretty tough to beat for base camp if weight/size is not an issue.

The guys in our group are all using canvas cowboy bedrolls or sleeping bag covers. They are easy to customize to your liking. The canvas adds a lot of warmth when it’s cold. I have a large flannel lined sleeping bag, blankets and sheets in mine. I usually sleep on top of sleeping bag and use sheets and blankets. Mainly because I like to get my feet out and cool, but have bag if extremely cold. Plus it’s easy to wash sheets after a week or so in the woods.

i have a big bulky coleman sleeping bag i use in the wall tent, it really warm, it just as you described flannel and heavy haha.

I still use my Slumberjack that I bought in the late 80's. It's smooth material on the inside and is about as comfortable as they come. 6lb Quallofil insulation and was the biggest bag they made. I'm 6'6" 220 and have room to spare. Love that bag.

I like the Teton XL with pad and XL cot. There are other brands too but a nice flannel bag with canvas outside will do the trick and be roomy.

I purchased BA Whiskey Park for base, BA Anvil Horn for spike camp. Both are 80” at shoulder vs typical 68” mummy. The larger bag will help eliminate cold spots where bag was compressed on elbows/shoulders

I have a flannel looking lined cabelas bag, big, heavy warm and super comfy. Not sure the rating but they have a bunch of newer versions.

My Wiggys is bombproof, but ,6lbs. Very comfy and excellent construction. The kifaru of sleeping bags. Doesn't matter if it gets soaked it'll dry with you inside (just help it along by rubbing feel creating frction, it will still keep u warm. Can keep it permanently compressed (even sells them vacuum sealed option) and puffs right up. Super durable. Baffling ridge runs along the inside of the zipper to prevent micro drafts. The Antarctic parka is insane too
