I'm working on gathering gear for my first elk hunt with a group of fellow first-timers for Colorado 3rd rifle, and I was wondering what everyone preferred for a base camp toilet. We are going to be sleeping in a wall tent and will be using a pop-up hunting blind for a bathroom shelter. What have you done in the past that was the most comfortable, easiest to set-up, sturdiest, cleanest, etc? Bag in a bucket? Plywood box with an Amazon toilet seat? Dig a hole under a folding chair?

Thanks for any advice that will improve our experience in the mountains!

I'm a hole digging, tree leaning typa guy.

Whatever you end up doing, please just clean up after yourselves haha. The amount of 5 gallon shit-filled buckets I've encountered near dispersed camping sites is astounding. Good luck this season!

Pro tip…dig the hole deeper than you think you need.

We use one of these, just dig a hole deeper than you think you will need. Put the dirt you took out of the hole next to it and then add a little on top after each use. The one we have folds up like a folding chair when not in use.
