BARTLEIN BARRELS CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE

One really bad experience with a Bartlein carbon. I documented 250 rounds. Sent in photos, targets, load data. The barrel would walk right approx 1.5 MOA for the first 6-8 rounds, and then stack small groups till the barrel was too hot to touch. It did this repetitively with multiple loads. They inspected the barrel, told me it was dirty, and basically told me to pound sand. Bottom line, F Bartlein, I'll never shoot one their barrels again unless it was a life or death situation.

Well, after all these posts, I got to wondering. I have no interest in a Magnum blaster that runs 100 gr. of powder . That being said, I live 20 miles from Bartlein Barrels and would likely go with them if I want a custom barrel.. Some questions are, just for target shooting, what would be the most practical cartridge? I have 223 Rem. Seems like it would be real easy on the barrel. A 6.5 Creedmore? A .308 Win. is much more than I need for 200 yd. paper. I have met some of the guys from Bartlein Barrels at my gun club. They sure like their guns. The ones I saw were at least 1.25" barrels and very expensive scopes . They all out shot me . However, I still could run well under an inch with my Savage 12 bull barrel in .223Rem. They were all right around .5" and some even less. That said , I think wonder what Frank would say about a 200 Yd. target gun. He has not been on here in a long time.

200 yard paper punching, are you a handloader and does it need to be a repeater? 6 PPC has dominated short range benchrest forever but it's pretty niche. 6 ARC is a very similar cartridge with some factory ammo. 6 BR is next step in the progression that is also near handloader only but there is better brass options.

I'd pick any of those. 6 BRA or 6 Dasher are other considerations but for what you described and a fair bit more, 6 ARC or 6 BR are more appealing to me.

223 rem is great too. It just seems more finicky to me at times than the 6s mentioned. 6x45 (223 necked up to 6mm) is another that would have insane barrel life and be very economical to shoot.

Ive got a Bartlein being installed on a 6.5 Creedmoor. Did you find your barrel requited any sort of a break in?

I’ve had a couple Barrlien barrels. They hammer. Awesome barrels never had an issue

That's all fine. Mine shot great too... for a while, until it didn't. The big question and the theme for the thread is customer service. When there IS A PROBLEM, how does the company handle it? In this case it was not good. Others in this thread have had same experience.

Yes, I'm a handloader . I have all kinds of 22 cal. bullets and cases. I could go another cartridge too though.
