Barnes 145 Match Burners on game?

Just be aware that the match burners have a higher bc variation compared to say a Berger. So if you're trying to shoot far, expect some elevation issues.

“shoot far” meaning like a mile+, anything <800 yards won’t make a big difference.

I had 800 plus in mind when I said shoot far.
When I shot 140 match burners at the AB mobile lab a couple years ago, the BC variation was 4%. Maybe the 145s are better.
This article compares 1% to 2% at 1500m.

They're fine for what they are, I'm just saying don't let their purported BC give you false expectations.

Edit to add:
In this thread we have seen: .663, .703, and .730. Consider that a box of 100 will likely have bullets with each of these and everywhere in between. Quick check in AB shows 5.8 elevation @ 800 yards with .663 vs 5.6 with .730. Not a variable I want to have if I can avoid it, but I will agree that inside of 800, for "low stakes" shooting, they're a fine practice bullet.

4% variation is half a tenth at 800 at 5k DA. I’m not good enough to be consistently shooting the difference especially stacking velocity ES and wobble zone on top of that.

I’ve never seen any bullet tested that g1bc varied by over 10% so I’d be shocked if any one lot of MBs had that much variation. But as always, I’m very likely to be wrong several times a day.

But yeah they’re probably not a NF ELR winning bullet.
