I’ve hunted Montana spring bears for 7 years now, usually from the first to second week of May. Most of my success has been in that 4,500–5,500 ft range. I did go once during the first week of June and struggled locating bears.
I have an opportunity to fly out again June 5–9 and wanted to get some late-season advice from guys who hunt later into spring. With all the green-up now, are y’all finding bears moving higher, staying near north slopes, focusing on burns, avalanche chutes, or still hitting lower feed areas? Any quick tips on where to start looking this time of year would be appreciated.
