I'm trying to decide on my first silencer. It'll ride mostly on my 6.5 right now, but will also be on my AR as well. Direct thread vs quick disconnect is not important. Mostly looking for real world experience of either. Heard great things about both, but have seen less than stellar reviews of Silencer Central which gives me cold feet...I like the fact that the Banish is so light, with the option of being configured to either 7" or 9". Also being user serviceable is a big plus. Also the much shorter leadtimes than Thunderbeast have been leaning towards Banish. Give me some opinions!

My banish has been on a .204, .223 AR, 6.5 Grendel, 243 win, 6.5 Creedmoor, and 300 win mag.
I actually like the 9” for .223 and Grendel, seems like I get gassed less and I have to assume it’s because of more volume.

Thanks for chiming in, I was beginning to wonder if anyone ever even had any experience with the Banish.

Yeah I went through Mile High Shooting. They had a handful of the Ultras in stock but I just couldn’t help myself. A little quieter than the 7” but shorter and lighter. If I’m waiting that long to have my form 4 clear, another month isn’t to much more.

Hopefully mile high has had them ordered for awhile. I think its 9-10 months out getting a serial number from tbac tight now. Could be a 2 year process.

Yes, according to TBAC they have the highest quantity on order and according to Mile High they're suppose to get their first shipment of them within a month. Trust me, I would have gone with the Ultra if I had to wait a year for a serial number.

Just got a call from the folks at Mile High. They just had a shipment come in today so I was able to snag one. Should be able to get it to my dealer early next week and get my form 4 started!

The difference is noticeable to me between the 7 and 9. Not as much between the Ultra 9 and 338 Ultra.

I own an ultra 5 and ultra 7, and my ultra 9 is in jail currently. I have only heard live the 338 ultra being shot on a 6.5 and 300 win mag....do you think the ultra 9 is close to as quiet? I bought the 9 to complete the series, but that 338 ultra was impressive, if my 9 is even close I will be happy and it will maybe squash my desire for the 338 ultra and the $2k that would cost me.

Yeah that’s what almost drove me to another brand. Started doing my research and this false theory that tbac lead times are out 8-10 months is way off. People don’t understand that many dealers have them in stock if you just look around.

I don't have an Ultra 9, but I have a 9" suppressor and a 338 Ultra. The 338 Ultra is a huge improvement over my other can but an Ultra 9 is also a large step up from my 9"er .

I think the Ultra 9 is the ticket for 300 WM size cartridges and lower. The 338 Ultra obviously shines on a .338 but they're awesome on big stupid .30s as well.

I got an email from Capitol armory yesterday. They supposedly have a bunch of ultra’s in stock if anyone’s looking. I’d buy one but I’ll probably be moving to another state before the nfa approved my stamp. Not sure how that nightmare would be handled so I’m waiting!

I'd echo what Weiser said. If you're not shooting a shit-kicking 30 cal magnum or a 338 of some kind, the Ultra-9 is what I'd go with.

I use an Ultra 7 with Armageddon gear cover so it’s probably fatter than the Dominus. No issues whatsoever with sight picture.

I can see the very tip of my Ultra-9 on the end of my .30-06 when I look through the scope at 3 power. It doesn't really cover much area at all though and you can't see it starting at around 5-6 power. That's with low rings and a 42mm objective. If you want to eliminate that you can just get higher rings and a cheek pad, though to be honest it's not something I notice much since I rarely shoot anything on minimum power.

My guess is unless you're using low rings with an under 50mm objective you're not going to see it. I used medium to high rings on all my rigs up to this point and can't see it in those ever. Must just be a low ring issue with long suppressors OR suppressors with thick suppressor covers on them.

Edit: I'm not near my gunsafe but I think I got things mixed up. I can definitely see the tip of my Ultra-7 on my Fieldcraft when the suppressor cover is on it. But that's because I use Talley low rings on it which keep the scope incredibly close to the action/barrel. I don't believe I've ever been able to see it in any of my rifles which have picatinny rails that I mount the scope rings to. And even in the Fieldcraft it's not very noticeable at all.
