My "employment" afforded me the opportunity to see the Oregon fire today. On one hand I was rather impressed with the skill of the fire crews. Witnessed first hand many residences....with all the outbuildings, shops and garages...burnt or melted to the ground. Yet the homes were saved and unscathed. Just mere feet away. Those who do this are rather skilled. Saw many fire breaks work and many Back Burns? that stopped right at property lines or roads...without the fire jumping.

But my partners also did wellness checks and found many dogs and livestock burned. Folks werent home, fled withouth the means or effort, or gave zero shits.

I care much more about the dogs than most people. Sorry.

And there were more reports of DeGens looting. Not many....but some. We had a pretty good dragnet working, but most activity will happen during hours of darkness.

Southern end of the fire...which presses the closest to our place....is still 4+ miles. And air assets were finally able to fly and take action. Minimal southern progression in 24 hours.

My family and friends have been altered for life by the 2020 OR fires. It is strange how much the hair stands up at the sight, smell, or story of any fire now. Most of our lives we were the "couldnt happen to us here in town" catagory.

Stay safe everyone.
