Backpack wood stove tents

I am looking at purchasing the RINCON 2P TENT. I already have the stove with a 8ft pipe. Will this be to tall should I order a shorter pipe also ?

I went with a Cimmaron and the Lite Outdoors stove. As was stated, the stove is a tad tedious to assemble and you have to be cautious as it's not what i would call "robust" but it keeps the weight down which i prioritized. Definitely glad i went with the 18" for the extra volume/burn time.

I have never actually needed to use the stove out west, but the Cimmaron is great for September and the security of having the stove in the truck to have just in case is awesome. I've hot tented it out here in Wisco and it's awesome to be able to wake up and fire up the stove to warm up for the morning!

This has nothing to do with our tents whatsoever, but just wanted to add my two cents on the validity of hot tents. The UL tent thing isn't a gimmick and a lot of people that backpack hunt mid fall or later in the intermountain west use a hot tent. I went from never taking one 20 years ago because it seemed like a ridiculous amount of weight, to realizing it is worth every ounce on some hunts to be able to keep you in the mountains when the weather gets bad and everyone else is bailing because they are tired of being wet and cold. Personally for me, it's well worth it when you're dealing with any type of colder or wet weather. And for what it's worth, a 3 or 4P size is ideal when using a stove to make sure you have ample space for a wood pile and all your wet gear, unless you'll only ever go solo. A 2P size is absolutely doable, but I think its a little tight unless you're willing to sacrifice some space to minimize wieght.

Running a stove is one of those things that once you try it out in bad weather it will always find a way into your pack on mid to late season hunts. IMO for archery season, not a necessity unless you expect unusual weather.
Just curious how the half insert works with a stove? I have the absaroka and I am thinking about getting the half insert and running that with a stove. Is there ample clearance that it won’t melt the netting on the half insert?

Lots of people do this. If you face the door away from the insert and cheat the stove a little bit away from the insert you will be totally fine. Personally I like to keep at least an 8-10" horizontal space between the insert and the stove. The other thing I recommend is to keep the bottom of the pole 2" from center away from the stove. This will give you a little extra wiggle room.

Hope that helps.
