Just wondering if anybody uses a backcountry shower for 7-10 day trips if so what kind and is it worth packing one along I was thinking it would be nice to rinse off every couple of days.

I have a sea to summit? its just a silnylon bag with a little valve on the bottom. works but ive only used it once. packed it a lot of miles and about decieded to leave it out. great idea and if my next trip was 7-10 days I would take it. but this years trip will be 2 shorter trips

I have a sea to summit pocket shower, but it's not much of a solar shower. You have to always heat water. Last year I used a clear platypus 4 liter water storage bag. I rigged a platypus hose with a one way valve on the end and a makeshift shower head, similar to the one msr makes. Now my 4 liter water storage bag doubles as a shower. The clear platypus bags work great in the sun. Most days I don't even have to add any boiling water.

After finding Merino wool as a base layer I don't stink up as much. Baby wipes are good for other cleaning uses plus they work well for what baby gets in keeping your behind washed.

A shower can be rejuvinating after 7-10 days out. If you carry a Dromerdary bag or water bag for getting back and stashing a supply of water where you might be hunting. Many times there is little water where your hunting and you can convert it to a shower when making a trip back to fill up. Some water containers like the MSR type are black to help absorb heat from the sun and they even come with a shower kit as an option.

I'm for trying to get mutiple uses out of items whenever possible.

A bird bath in a creek when its convenient or warm enough to make me want to can be nice....otherwise I just hope my merino masks it.

I use my hydration bladder.

Use paracord to hang it above your head.

Fill it 3/4 full then heat up water with jetboil and pour in.

There you have it.. A warm back country shower.

** get wet, get soaped up,,, then use shower to rinse off.

Dry off with sea to summit towel..

I hop in a lake a couple times during the trip. It certainly isn't warm but you only have to get in to rinse and rinse off. I take biodegradable liquid soap in a small bottle for this purpose.

With the mules we use a MSR Shower Bag.
When on foot, I rely on zinc tabs, wipes, and the occasional wash up in the creek.
I like the Dromerdary bag idea, add a pinch clamp & showerhead.... and a grav filter,
and it could be truely multi-purpose.
All pack gear has to have more than one use .... right?

PS: On a similar note, I tried some of the HS Tek4 anti-microbial shorts last year
and I LIKE'EM!!!

After about a week this did feel good!!!

Not worried so much about smell as I play the wind always just dont like the sticky grimie feeling after a few days of backpacking and didnt want to have to drop down out of camp to find a creek to jump in but I guess I could when I refill my water supply.

I completely agree with this. shower can lift the spirit and rejuvenate you. wips are ok but it is for light use.
