I have used Midlands and Motorolas in the backcountry with not a ton of clarity out past a mile. Looking for recommended radios to use while hunting in extreme mountain areas where there is usually a ridge and gobbs of trees in between you and your hunting partner. Which radios give you the most clarity under 1-2 miles in mountainous regions? Thanks for the feedback!

Looking for the same as well. Been looking at the Uniden VHF radios. Marine ban and I believe no requirement for a license. At least not like a business ban. In flatter country my buddies goes a long way, hoping for like 4 miles in rougher terrain.

Technically Marine band is for marine use. Highly doubt if use keep the wattage low and are not foolish it will be a problem.
But technically if your not on a boat your not supposed to transmit on marine band.

But they do work pretty well.😁

I have tried several over the years hands down best has been Titan TR4x. My brother in law first and them and they made a world of difference. We have a base camp and then venture out sometimes miles in rugged country. We have communicated at ranges 4-5 miles. For personal safety we think they are a must. Also helps tremendously when trying to navigate to hunting buddies for a pack out.
