Only need one..... The Doug Ritter RSK from Hogue. I used it to skin and quarter 2 elk back to back last year without sharpening. I forgot my sharpener in the truck and didn't want to walk back to get it.

I carry an Esee 4 hm and an Outdoor Edge Razor Lite. I just don't feel right in the woods without a sturdy fixed blade, so the extra weight is worth it to me.

Outdoor edge edc razor lite and a fixed blade bench made. What sharpener does everyone carry that uses a fixed blade?

I generally carry a pocket knife and a skinner. I Usually forget and use the pocket knife to do all the work anyways though. I have gutted my last two elk with a benchmade griptilian.

I love the Worksharp Field Sharpener, but thought it was a little too bulky and heavy for backpacking, so I made my own version with a fine diamond sharpener, a ceramic rod, and a piece of leather. It’s less than half the weight of the Worksharp. But of course you could easily get by with just a fine or extra fine diamond card, which would be a fraction of the weight of my homemade version.

I'm a fan of the worksharp sharpners. They have a newer lightweight one that works well in a backcountry kit if you don't want to carry the bulkier field sharpener. It is very good however so if your knife blade tends to dull quickly, it might be worth the extra couple ounces. And if you butcher your own meat, their home/shop sharper is pretty badass.

Havalon in bino harness and a Steep Country in my pack. Bought a Gerber EBS last year but didn’t use it, will give it a try this year. Might get a Tyto to replace the Havalon.

I used to carry 3, until I found my bark river can handle a deer by itself. Unless I’m going in with a bigger hunting party I just take one with me.

I've only carried a Havalon but just bought a Victorinix paring knife and a Fallkniven sharpener. The knife with a tape sheath is less than an ounce and the sharpener is about 2 oz. 8 bucks for the knife and about 20 for the sharpener.

Spyderco Stretch ZDP-189 and custom S90V fixed hunter. I have lots of other options and mix it up some but that's generally my go to.

Im not sure which part I'm bothered most by in this photo. The image of a south american before and after knives combo (what was used to go to jail and what is used w/in the jail). Or, the fact that someone had both and thought enough to pair them and take a photo to share...

Benchmade activator in D2 and Leatherman signal. Almost never use the leatherman as BM is plenty to breakdown deer but i like to have it just in case. This season were going elk hunting and i will add a piranha to the kit.

I've had great results with Outdoor Edge replacement knives. They are cheap, super sharp and the blades don't snap like Piranta's. It only takes about a minute to swap blades. I almost impaled myself several times with Piranta blades that snaped and gave up on them years ago. I use the same knife for caping, skinning, and boning meat.....no problem!

ZT 452 folder and a fixed blade of about 4.5”. I like a stout fixed blade, I have several I use. If I’ll be caping out the head in the field I add a Benchmade Altitude.

Received a Steep Country for Father’s Day. It will be with my kill kit. Bug Out always in the pocket.

No one's carrying the RaptoRazor or the Mano? Their videos are legendary on the interwebs.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but does the RaptoRazor work as a gut hook? Looking at it as an option for when a deer is hung upside down and it's easier to accidentally puncture the gut.
